Assist with Personal Activities

NDIS Support Category 0107 | Core Support

Your personal care should always be easy, whether you need assistance with morning routines, meal times, or support during the night. At Serene Life, we meet you exactly where you are—thoughtful, trained, and completely guided by how you like things done.

What Is Assist-Personal Activities?

Assist-Personal Activities (NDIS Support Category 0107) provides hands-on help with the personal care tasks that daily life depends on. This support sits under Core Supports in your NDIS plan, the most flexible funding category available to you.

It is designed for participants whose disability makes it harder or unsafe to manage personal care on their own. We offer support precisely when and how you need it, stepping back when it’s no longer necessary—never taking over or removing your independence.

You decide the help you need. Whether it’s just mornings or support throughout the day, your care adapts to your schedule, not the other way around. Your preferences guide everything.

If you plan-manage or self-manage your NDIS funding, you are free to choose your provider, define the support you receive, and set your own schedule.

What Your Assist-Personal Activities Support Includes

Every person’s needs are different. Here are the most common ways your personal activities support can assist you in everyday life.

Showering and Personal Hygiene

Support with bathing, showering, oral hygiene, hair washing, and grooming—always with your privacy and dignity respected. Your routine, your preferences, your way.

Dressing and Grooming

Your support worker can assist with choosing clothing, dressing, and managing fasteners such as buttons, zips, or orthotics. Small touches like hair care or light makeup are included too, because feeling good matters.

Meal Preparation and Eating Assistance

We support you with preparing meals, safe eating and swallowing, hydration, and dietary needs. Texture requirements, preferences, and cultural foods are all considered—so you enjoy every mealtime.

Mobility and Physical Transfers

Receive safe, trained assistance when moving between bed, wheelchair, shower chair, or other positions. Correct manual handling techniques ensure safety for both you and your support worker.

Mobility and Physical Transfers

As you age or experience changes in your health, your support needs may change. We help participants and families review what is in place, identify gaps, and adjust the NDIS plan accordingly.

We also assist participants approaching 65 to understand their options as they transition from the NDIS to the aged care system.

Medication Prompting

Your support worker can remind you to take prescribed medication at the right time.

Note: Support workers assist with prompting and self-administration. Direct medication administration is provided only by Registered Nurses (RNs) or Enrolled Nurses (ENs) where authorised.

Continence Management

Discreet, respectful continence care, including catheter care, pad changes, and bowel care. Always delivered with sensitivity and without judgment.

Night-time and Overnight Support

If you need assistance during the night, we are there. Overnight support includes repositioning, continence care, reassurance, and emergency response—ideal for those with complex or high support needs.

Specialist Nursing Care

What sets Serene Life apart is the clinical expertise behind your care. Our RNs and ENs can provide wound management, medication administration, and other clinical supports—giving you and your family confidence in your care.

How This Works With Your NDIS Plan

Assist-Personal Activities sits under Core Supports. Here’s how it works from plan to your first session:

  1. Check your Core Supports budget.
Assist-Personal Activities (0107) is funded from this category. Your plan manager or support coordinator can confirm.
  2. Choose your provider.
If you self-manage or plan-manage your funding, you can engage Serene Life directly. If you are agency-managed, we can guide you through the process.
  3. We build your schedule together
In a simple intake conversation, we identify the times, days, and support you need—mornings, evenings, weekends—whatever fits your life.
  4. Your support begins.
Your matched support worker arrives with your personalised support plan ready from day one. We check in regularly and adjust as your needs change.

Not sure if this funding is in your plan? Check your Core Supports section or speak with your support coordinator. If it’s missing, an OT assessment or plan review may help include it. We can assist you in documenting your support needs.

Staying Active, Connected, and in Control

Your hobbies and interests matter. Whether you enjoy painting, gardening, or simply getting outdoors, your personal care support helps you stay engaged with the things you love.

You’ll benefit from consistent support workers who build trust over time. Familiar faces make a real difference, especially during challenging moments.

Your care is never just about completing tasks—it’s about feeling fresh, confident, and ready for your day, while your family feels reassured that you are in good hands.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use my Core Supports funding for Assist-Personal Activities?

Yes. Assist-Personal Activities (0107) is funded through your Core Supports budget. Most participants can use this support without needing a specific line-item. Always check your individual plan details.

How many hours of support can I receive each week?

It depends on your Core Supports funding. Some participants receive a few hours per week; others receive daily or 24-hour support. If your funding doesn’t meet your needs, you can request a plan review—we can help with documentation.

Can I choose who supports me and how they do it?

Absolutely. Choice and control is central to the NDIS. You can choose your provider, request preferred workers, set your schedule, and explain how you like things done. We document your preferences and adjust anytime.
